Things to do in the spring
As winter fades away and spring starts to bloom, the Pacific Northwest comes alive
Home Farm Family in Birch Bay is a must-visit for us when we’re in the area. It’s a family-owned farm with a delightful farm stand and opportunities for picking your own berries, flowers and produce. It’s a great idea to spend some time gathering fresh berries to make jam or creating a bouquet of flowers for someone special.
The farm also serves as an educational opportunity for families and offers events like the Fall Festival and Markets with up to 50 vendors. They have over 15 varieties of sunflowers and 10 varieties of zinnias for visitors to pick this summer season. The crops include blueberries, raspberries, cucumbers, lettuce, and others.
Summer is the busiest season at the farm with a large variety of blueberries and raspberries for u-pick in addition to other summer produce. Plus, they have gourmet marshmallows and other local artisan goods available at their Farmstand.
Birch Bay itself is a small community with plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy, such as hiking, kayaking, and fishing. If you’re making a day trip from Lynden to Birch Bay, I would highly recommend visiting Home Farm Family and exploring the nearby parks and beaches.
