Start Planning Your Getaway

Romantic getaways are the perfect time to focus on your partner and yourself, and what better time is there to plan a memorable vacation than Valentine’s Day? This February is the perfect time to celebrate love and connection and cherish one another’s time on a relaxing getaway with your significant other. Whether you both enjoy exploring the outdoors, settling in for a day of wine tasting at the winery, or escaping to the beach, these destinations are the perfect settings for a change of scenery this Valentine’s Day!

Curl up in front of the fire, grab a blanket, roast some marshmallows and do some smores. How about watching some sunsets and star gazing from the hot tub? (weather permitting)

Here are some things to do for Valentine’s Day in Bellingham.

Reserve Your Spot at a Romantic Restaurant – Valentine’s Day is probably restaurants’ busiest day of the year, and reservations are recommended. Here are a few ideas, but for more, go to our local guide or download our complimentary restaurant guide at the bottom of this page.

Romantic drive – The winding Chuckanut Drive just south of Bellingham weaves through forested glades, popping out to cliffside viewpoints with inspiring Puget Sound vistas. You can take short walks, explore secluded pocket beaches, or simply gawk at the panoramas.

Oyster picnic – Take a trip to Taylor Shellfish Farm on Chuckanut Drive and buy some fresh local oysters (they’re in season!). Barbeque them in-shell next to your table and create a picnic overlooking Samish Bay.

Find A Special Place

Step back in time – Fairhaven Village is a charming historic district founded in the late 1880s. It became part of Bellingham shortly afterward. It bustles with shops, galleries, and restaurants that invite strolling hand-in-hand, browsing, and sharing discoveries.

Chocolate tasting – Chocolate Necessities is one of the oldest artisan chocolate companies in the U.S., serving creamy truffles dipped in Couveture chocolate imported from Belgium. They’re guaranteed to warm anyone’s heart, especially when paired with a steamy mug of drinking chocolate.

How About A Spa Day

Sensory deprivation float – You’ll never find relaxation like a 60-minute float in a sensory deprivation chamber at Still Life Massage. Once inside your futuristic pod, the outside world melts away. You’ll float in a warm saltwater solution and experience a level of peace you never knew was possible.

You can then take a stroll and walk to the nearby Marina and Zuanich Point Park and enjoy Anthony’s Hearthfire Grill at  Bellingham Squalicum Harbor, located a few miles from the Farmstead. There are several restaurants to enjoy a nice lunch or dinner while overlooking the Harbor.  For more idea’s head over to our Local Guide here.

Try A Little Shopping Therapy

Petals and Blooms Home Decor. I often get rave reviews about the decor in our accommodations. I frequently shop in their store, which is only about 30 minutes from the Farmstead. They are a small family-run business located in the small town of Ferndale, Washington.

If you go to their shop, tell them the Oostema’s sent you over!

Take In A Sunset

Take some time to take in a breathtaking sunset and unwind in the hot tub for the evening. And depending on the weather, you can also have a nice fire around one of the fire rings we have set up.

There are several options of things to do, just a short drive from the Farmstead. To find out more, read our Local Guide here
