Wings Over Water Festival
Wings Over Water Northwest Birding Festival is packed full of fun-filled activities for the avid birder, novice, and children alike.
One of my favorite things about Fairhaven is that everything is local and can only be found here in Whatcom County, making it the perfect day trip from Seattle. Here are a few things to do in Fairhaven, located only 30 minutes drive from the Farmstead.
Boutique shops are open but are required to limit the number of guests who may shop with them. Shop now and enjoy a quiet time.
Fairhaven is known for its Victorian red-brick architecture, quaint shops, fabulous restaurants, and breathtaking galleries.
“Love classic New York-style pizza? Our Brooklyn crust is made for traditional pizza lovers. We brush our Brooklyn crust with garlic and olive oil – and yes, you can fold it!
Try all three Fat Pie Pizza styles and decide for yourself, which is your favorite!”
“Avenue Bread is the neighborhood café and bakery that creates community around authentic eats for the people of Whatcom County and its visitors who want a nourishing experience for the mind, body, and soul in an era of increasingly conscious consumption.”*
“We do our best to embody our motto, The Closest Pint to Adventure! While beer is our passion, so is exploring the surrounding mountains, islands, and everything in between. Henceforth, we have sought to create an environment that will be loved by like-minded people.”
Edaleen Dairy opened its sixth shop in February 2019 and is now bringing over 24 delicious flavors to Fairhaven. Edaleen’s ice cream is made from locally produced milk from their farm up in Lynden, Washington. Cones to sundaes and ice cream cakes to banana splits, Edaleen has all your ice cream needs.*

After enjoying a fabulous ice cream, you may want to stroll to Taylor Dock. As you walk over the open waters of Bellingham Bay to Boulevard Park, it is easy to understand why this is one of Bellingham’s most popular trails.
In Boulevard Park, you will find open fields and a play structure for kids. Take in the breathtaking views of Downtown and Bellingham Bay as you walk, run, or bike along the waterfront.
I took a walk there this summer, and it is my favorite place to go. I love the boardwalk. It doesn’t get much better than that! Don’t you think?
