Head West from our cozy little farm for a short 23 Miles you’ll run into Blaine, Semiahmoo Bay, and Drayton Harbor for a fun day outdoors!
Semiahmoo Park includes an extensive area of public tidelands, certainly one of the best places to go for a beach walk in Whatcom County. Check tides for the best low tide times. Follow boardwalks to beach overlooks, then continue out onto the tidelands and follow the incoming tide along both sides of the spit.
Enjoy the spectacular views across Drayton Harbor to the snow-capped peaks of Mount Baker. And if you bring your binoculars, you can watch various birds and seals in their natural habitat. This segment of the Coast Millennium Trail spans Semiahmoo Park’s length and extends north to the Semiahmoo Resort area and the seasonal Historic Plover Ferry over to Blaine.
Kids and adults enjoy the history lessons and explore the waters between the Blaine Marina and Semiahmoo on the fun little ferry ride. Kids can even earn an Honorary Captains Certificate! It’s a “cruise” you’ll want to take more than once.
The park is open daily from 8 am to dusk. Take a walking tour of the stunning gardens, interpretive displays, spend some time bird watching, and let the kids run off some energy at the playground. There are picnic tables as well! This is the US portion of the international park and is accessible from 2nd street in Blaine.
Because the park is on an international boundary, it is important to enter and depart through designated entry points and carry proper documentation. The border patrol keeps a close eye on things to deter illegal entry. Other than that it’s well worth the time to visit the park. Each visit to Peace Arch State Park provides lovely views, wonderful gardens, and flowers. The monument is a wonderful reminder of the connection between our country and our neighbor to the North.
